Thanks to my friend Senthil who pointed me to this good blog article “Why being a glass half empty person is a good thing.” from Rubber Sole. Being optimistic is ok but being never content with what has been achieved and the thirst for more is what keeps you learn more and grow. I had this wonderful teacher named Sridhar when I did a computer diploma course 12 years back in a training institute called NIIT. He once told the class that one should be like a tiger when it comes to achieving. A tiger once it gets to taste human flesh becomes a man-eater and would always be hungry for human flesh. The first achievement, be it something small is good enough to kindle that man-eater in you for more achievement. The mental appetite to achieve more should be something similar - never be satisfied and there is always something new to learn, improve and to achieve more. As technology changes and advancements are so rapid it is very important that one has that thirst for more mindset, otherwise it will be all the more difficult to cope up, and more than that it will be difficult to stand out in the infinite IT crowd. The blog article ends with a beautiful quote from George Bernard Shaw and I want to repeat it here.

“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
